Located above the shore on Lake Wanaka, this luxury lodge appears to float above the water, the position and outlook creating a tranquil charm. The architecture captures the setting’s unique feeling of light and space with floor-to-ceiling windows that maximise the magnificent vistas.

Accommodating a maximum of twelve guests, you are invited to experience your own luxury suite, deluxe room or book the lodge exclusively for absolute privacy.

Whare Kea (pronounced far-eh-kee-ah) means ‘house of the Kea’ in the language of New Zealand’s indigenous Maori. The Kea, the world’s only alpine parrot, lives all year round above the snowline in the surrounding mountains.

• Our staff are trained to reduce waste (reducing the amount of waste going to landfill) and recycle where possible. We encourage our guests of the lodge to do so also. We ask that you please give any waste or recyclable products to a staff member to divide and dispose of.
• We offer a towel and linen change agreement which ensures you’re helping the environment by reducing energy and the enormous quantity of detergents that are currently polluting our waters.
• We always endeavour to turn off lights or equipment when not needed (or when we leave a room). You may wish to do the same.
• We offer Aesop products, which include high-quality plant-based ingredients that are environmentally friendly for our waterways, in all guest bathrooms for your use during your stay.
• We use only biodegradable or non-toxic cleaning products.
• We work closely with Sustainable Wanaka, Wanaka Wastebusters (Recycling) and Qualmark New Zealand.
