Rob Roy Valley Walk
We invite you to actually experience “Whare Kea”! To travel to the home of the world’s only alpine parrot, the Kea, the Rob Roy Valley Walk is located in the Mt. Aspiring National Park, a 45 minute drive away. The walking track is well sign posted and includes crossing over the Matukituki River on a swing bridge and then ascending through a beech forest to the alpine meadows under the Rob Roy Glacier. You have reached the home of the Kea. Walking time for the round trip is about 3 ½ hours including a picnic stop at the top.
Arethusa Pool on Mou Waho Island
Mou Waho Island is located in the middle of Lake Wanaka, a one hour cruise from the beach front in Wanaka.

A short walk inland will take you to the beautiful Arethusa Pool, small alpine lake located 100 metres above Lake Wanaka in a Japanese garden-like rock and forest setting. From here you will enjoy the outstanding views of the Minaret Peaks on the western shore of Lake Wanaka and south towards Whare Kea Lodge. Visit www.ecowanaka.co.nz/
