Wanaka Air Show
The famous ‘Warbirds Over Wanaka’ air show is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere with spectacular flying displays of vintage aircraft of all ages. Held bi-annually during the Easter holiday, the next show is scheduled for 2008. See www.warbirdsoverwanaka.com.

Fishing
Whare Kea is ideally located near the famous rivers, streams and lakes of Otago and Southland where fishing for either trout or salmon is a favourite past-time. The season runs from October through to May with the best months from October till March. Local guides are necessary and remote locations require the use of the helicopter. Mountaineering
Outstanding alpine mountaineering is on offer in the Mt. Aspiring National Park and Whare Kea is an ideal base from which to enjoy this activity. The nearby township of Wanaka is the home base for many of New Zealand’s UIAGM qualified mountain guides, famous for their guided ascents of some of the highest mountains in the world. These guides are available to lead guests to the summit of Mt. Aspiring, the ‘Matterhorn of the South’, teach you the thrills of ice or rock climbing or a more extensive general mountaineering course.
