Head Host Jaclyn Barbour is committed to ensuring that your stay at Whare Kea Lodge & Chalet is the ultimate. From the moment you arrive, Jaclyn will be at your service to arrange any specific needs you may require to add comfort and relaxation to your stay.
Originally from Dunedin on the east coast of the South Island, Jaclyn was drawn to Wanaka in 2004 to be close to family and live amongst this spectacular alpine village where she can involve herself in the various outdoor activities it has to offer. Prior to this she had spent 5 years living in Japan, London and Australia which included a great deal of travel to various destinations in between. Her own experience has helped her to understand the needs of travellers, and through her experience within various hotel and restaurant establishments over the past 12 years she has gained exceptional customer service skills.

James Stapley
Combining contemporary European style with fresh New Zealand produce, award winning chef James Stapley prepares sumptuous cuisine.
After four years working at the Park Lane Hilton , James went on to become the Head Chef at London’s Selfridge’s Premier Restaurant. James moved to Christchurch in 2003 to become Head Chef at Pegasus Bay Winery winning the Cuisine Best Casual Restaurant Award in 2005. From there James joined the iconic Christchurch restaurant Saggio di Vino where he excelled in producing excellent, simple food using only the best local and seasonal ingredients.
James’ philosophy of dining excellence is continued at Whare Kea Lodge where guests are offered a four course dinner on a table d’hote basis, as well as a comprehensive breakfast and a delicious range of lunch options. Of course fine New Zealand and Australian wines and French champagne compliment our cuisine.
