A new feature on the deck at Whare Kea Lodge

Posted on April 05, 2013

These Autumnal nights have come with no subtlety, what with Southerly blasts and even a frost yesterday morning. As timing would have it, we have just aquired an outdoor cast-iron chimnea for the front deck. The heat that it produces warms the whole seating arrangement of up to eight people and we have an oven attachment that sits on the top for James & Jethro to supply a stone-baked pizza or the likes.

We are looking forward to having it lit, ready and waiting for the heli-skiiers in winter coming down off of the hill and having somewhere to warm up while de-booting and enjoying a drink & a freshly made hot snack.

A light lunch in the images show chef James serving up crispy thin-crust pizzas to christen the new chimnea, and then a warm glow to see in the evening and pre-dinner drinks and canapes.
